Leaders: Please Include In Your Ride Listings

Ride Leaders -

Members have requested that ride leaders include the following information in ride listings:

  • Ride Length.
  • Amount of Climb. This can be overall, although some leaders include an average climb per mile, or point out the specific challenging climbs riders will encounter.
  • Average Speed or Pace: whether in miles per hour, or a general sense of whether you will end up towards the bottom, middle, or top of the pace range. Leaders are reminded to keep the ride within the posted speed category; exceeding the speed category is disheartening to some riders and is dangerous. If you ride faster than your posted speed, change the speed category for your next listing.
  • Rest Stop: Whether there will be one, where it will be, perhaps the distance from the start. Will there be more than one? Will there be a choice?
  • Availability of Rest Rooms at the Start.
Some leaders choose to post routes, others do not (some make up their routes on the fly). With the common use of GPS devices, some riders like to look at the route to decide whether they want to do the ride (e.g., they seek to avoid certain climbs, certain roads, or that intersection of Rocktown Road and Route 31 in Ringoes). Leaders are to use their judgment.
