Explore the towpath is a series of rides on various to paths in the area with different destinations each week as we explore the towpath from New Brunswick, NJ to Upper Black Eddy, PA. This week we will be starting in Washington Crossing Park, NJ and heading across the Scudder Falls Bridge to Yardley and continuing south where we will cross the Delaware back into New Jersey and head north where we will cross the Scudder Falls again (some people can’t get enough of riding over the this path) and then we will head to New Hope where we will have our rest stop at the New Hope Ferry Market. After that, we will cross back into New Jersey in Lambertville and head back to Washington Crossing Park. The ride is about 30 miles. This is a social ride where no one is dropped. Mountain, gravel, hybrid or fat bikes are recommended.

The Cabot Trail Tour will start in Baddeck, Cape Breton, the head of the Bras D‘or Lakes, the 3rd largest salt water lake system in North America. It is a fitting beginning to start the Lippincott TOUR as it reflects and revisits the English and Celtic Family Roots of many North Americans with a visit to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum on Day 1. We are very proud that Alexander Graham Bell loved Cape Breton so much he made it his Summer Home- you know - he invented the telephone - what else did he invent??? https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/lhn-nhs/ns/grahambell/visit/

It was suggested that on one Wednesday or Friday during the summer months (June-July-August) the club should have a potluck picnic after the Etra rides. Lots of picnic benches available there and Pat Butcher has a few games to bring (table & field games, corn hole being one of them). Others can bring their favorite picnic games too! And bring a favorite dish to share with the group.

Critical Mass is a form of direct action in which people travel as a group on bicycles at a set location and time. The idea is for people to group together to make it safe for each other to ride bicycles through their streets, based on the old adage: there‘s safety in numbers.

Hello, Cyclists,
The Sourland Conservancy is excited to announce the 13th annual Sourland Spectacular bike event, to be held (as usual) on the Saturday after Labor Day. So get out a fat Sharpie and circle September 7 on your calendar!
Everybody enjoyed the new venue, which will be back at the Watershed Institute in Pennington for the second year in a row.
Another popular new element last year was the addition of beer to the post-ride lunch. The participation fee includes one delicious craft beer, courtesy of Lone Eagle Brewing in Flemington. The giveaway item this year will be a handsome Sourland Spectacular beer glass. And the other usual good stuff, too — pizza prepared on site, subs, brownie sundaes with ice cream from The Bent Spoon.

This is THE premier cycling event in scenic Bucks County. Held each year on a beautiful Sunday with the gorgeous fall colors shouting out, the CBR, as our members call it, is our best event ever.
You have five great routes to choose from -- the family-friendly 20 or 30 mile route (uses the towpath along the Delaware river, which is a fine-cinder and hardpacked dirt trail, for part of these routes), or the hillier 35, 55 or 65 mile rides (all on paved roads) -- plus plenty of great food. Travel through up to six historic covered bridges. Fatter tired bikes work best on the cinder-based paths for the 20 or 30 mile route
All rides conclude with a Grande Finale Picnic.

Village Park From Main St turn on Westminster and go one block to park. 40.312118, -74.511734
Sun, Sep 14, 2025 at 8:00 AM
Join old or make new friends on this highly anticipated annual ride led by Mike Valazza. Expect Low B [avg 15.0-15.9 mph]. Depart from Cranbury at 8:00 am for full century (100 mi).
This year‘s route goes from Village Park to Sea Girt through Asbury Park, up to Rumson and back via Holmdel and Englishtown. Lunch stop at/near Playa Bowls in Belmar (mile 47.1). Rain cancels. Limited to 19 registrants plus ride leader. Once registration is full, text ride leader to be added to waiting list.
To be fair to all the registrants, it is expected that everyone can ride the required pace and distance. To be sure we don‘t get caught in the dusk/dark, we will start at 8:00 am and plan to be back between 3:00-3:30 pm.
I am not sure at this time whether or not anyone will schedule a faster or slower paced century that uses the same route. Stay tuned.
