The worst being the last 1.5 miles which inclines upward towards the entry of Clayton Park. RWGPS shows the elevations. Stopping in New Egypt for a brief rest next to where the deli is. The Columbia Trail has some spectacular views along the North Branch of the Raritan River. The trail has some gentle rises and descents. There are a few short areas of up to 8%. Trail surface is crushed gravel, pavement or bridge (with railings). No one gets dropped and you can head back when you want to on this 30-mile (total) out and back (all the way to Bartley). We will stop at all road crossings. Bobbi Binder will sweep. There is a parking lot for the trail at 79 Main Street in High Bridge. There is at least one place to get food and use bathroom facilities, just off the route. We will stop for a few photos and snack time. Mountain, Hybrid or Gravel Bikes are highly recommended to avoid flat tires.
