Yardley Park and Ride Lot
End the week with an easy ride along the Towpath by the Delaware River in Pennsylvania. We will meet in the Park and Ride Lot at the corner of Taylorsville and Woodside Roads, just north of the Scudder Falls (Rt 295) Bridge.
We will head north along the towpath 7.5 miles to small cemetery where some of Washington's 1776 Troops are buried. We will then check out the nearby Thompson-Neely House which served as a hospital for soldiers at the time of the historic Crossing. Then it's back to the parking lot (with very clean bathrooms!) for a total of 15 miles.
Hardy souls can continue on with Part B . . . Riding over the Scudder Falls Bridge into New Jersey, with the option of turning back, or continuing on the NJ Towpath 3 miles into Washington Crossing Park and then back.
There is a toll of $1.25 for cars heading into PA (Bikes are free both ways). If you want to avoid the toll, park in a small lot on the Jersey side, just north of the bridge at River Road and Bernard Drive (across a small bridge over the canal) and then bicycle over the bridge. The lot fills up often on weekends but there is parking along River Road and Bernard Drive. Bicycle over the Scudder Falls Bridge into PA and Meet at the Park and Ride.
